Green Bay Packers Three-Round Mock Draft: An Exciting New Beginning

Before free agency unfolds, I wanted to get a Packers three-round mock draft out as they’re in one of the more intriguing draft positions. That’s because Aaron Rodgers is likely on his way out and will recuperate excellent draft capital. Here I go over the trade and give detailed explanations for each pick. Round One, Pick Seven – WR Quentin Johnston, TCU

The Packers should be targeting this seventh-overall pick in return for Rodgers. If all QBs are off the board for Las Vegas, their only viable option is to use that seventh pick for Aaron Rodgers, who’d be a game-changer for them. This is a smart move for both sides as Aaron gets to play with Davante Adams again, and the Packers get an illustrious top-ten pick.

Tyree Wilson was off the board in this mock draft, and the other EDGE I’m interested in should be available at 15, so Quentin Johnston gets the selection. This may be an unpopular choice, but Johnston is the clear-cut best receiver in this class. He is explosive and fast at 6’3 with nearly 34″ arms. In addition, Johnston racked up 532 RAC yards on just 60 catches. He needs to improve his hands and become more consistent, but I could see it happening as he’s had a sound development track. Not many prospects have legit upside to be a dominant X-receiver and the Packers would be foolish to pass that up at seven.

Round One, Pick 15 – EDGE Nolan Smith, Georgia

It may not seem like it, but Nolan Smith is of phenomenal value here, based on my Big Board. After showing off world-class speed at the combine, this man is now in the top-15 conversation. Even before the combine, he was still highly touted as he possesses underrated play strength and exceptional bend. Besides being undersized, he is the total package. Smith is also an excellent scheme fit in this 3-4 defense and is the perfect counterpart to Rashan Gary. You ideally want one power rusher and one-speed rusher, and drafting Smith would allow for that. Say what you will about the previous selection, but this is an undeniably fantastic addition.

Round Two, Pick 45 – TE Luke Musgrave, Oregon State

Luke Musgrave has been among the most underrated prospects throughout the draft process. He’d be a stellar long-term answer at Tigh End and would help complete this receiving core. You’d rather have a safer option in the second, but Musgrave has a surprisingly good floor as a receiver. The Packers will just have to accept he won’t contribute in the run game on day one, but he can get there. At the combine, he had a blistering 1.54 split time and a 10’5″ broad jump. We must see him develop, but this is a target Jordan Love would be happy to see.

Round Three, Pick 78 – SA Jammie Robinson, Florida State

Jammie Robinson would be a solid replacement for Adrian Amos. He is a guy who is projected to go in the third round and could potentially start day one. Robinson is a versatile and physical player who’d fit exceptionally well in the split safety system. He’s hot in pursuit and brings great tackling ability to the table. From a coverage standpoint, he has to improve, but his day-one role isn’t too important. Nonetheless, to be able to fill a starting role with this third-rounder is outstanding.
