Byran Bresee gets a lot of attention for his physical traits, but whether he can put it all together is a big question. He’ll enter the league with some nice pass-rush moves, but the effort and consistency weren’t there in run defense. Watching him on film, he made a lot of splash plays but also lacked a good understanding when rushing the passer. Because of his insane physical traits, he’s capable of making some really impressive moves. It will be interesting to see how his traits translate to the NFL as he is a rare type of talent.

In the clip above, Bresee executes a beautiful spin move on a Tackle. He threw him off balance with the swat and the quickness of the spin took care of the rest.
Here he executes a nasty club rip move. This move requires great upper-body strength and body flexibility.
In this one, he blows up a run play on an attempted reach block. He was simply too big and fast to block at that level.

Player Notes
- Bryan Bresee is a big and powerful defensive Tackle with elite movement skills that shouldn’t be possible at his size. He is currently ranked sixth on The FBI 2023 Draft Board and has the third-highest potential grade out of any prospect.
Pros
- He made the ‘College Football Freaks List 2022‘ by Bruce Feldman and reportedly ran a 40 in the high 4.70s, which is remarkable.
- He overcame the death of his sister and a torn ACL – it’s positive to know he can overcome adversity like this.
- He flashed world-class get-off on multiple occasions; should be a really good broad jumper.
- Has an elite combination of size and speed – which gives him tremendous upside as a bull rusher
- Pulled off some nice rip moves and has a great club move.
- Has the ideal bend and twitchiness to be an elite pass-rusher.
- He drew a lot of attention and handled double teams generally well.
- Is a nightmare with stunts and twists due to his size and athleticism.
- Can be used in a variety of ways on the D-line.
- Is extremely difficult to block on reach blocks – he’ll make run stops against zone runs with ease.
Cons
- Had a lot of pressures that came on well-designed blitzes.
- He doesn’t have a ton of film, nor did he produce very well when in.
- He didn’t often have a plan as a pass rusher and would rely on pure athleticism.
- He doesn’t have the ideal effort or consistency in run defense.
- As you can see from his grades, hit tackling is not good – had a very poor missed-tackle rate.
- He may not be great playing 1-tech at the pro level.
- Plays too high and doesn’t get needed leverage underpads more often than not.
