• Penning is a very unique tackle prospect to evaluate; while it appears at first glance he is a safe player to take in the first, with everything taken into account there are multiple notable concerns with him.
• He practically bullied opposing d-lineman playing at Northern Iowa; his athletic profile at that low of a level of competition was unmatched
• Has an elite frame even for NFL standards; will help him overcome his issues in pass-pro
• Has elite potential as a run-blocker in a power/gap scheme and can immediately be an impact for that type of scheme
• While his athletic traits are great, he didn’t do a good job of finding defenders to block when on the move/ in space
• Has a bad tendency to get holding flags/ flags in general; had 34 over his collegian career and could’ve had a lot more
• His pass-pro will need to improve in multiple ways in order for him to be a quality starter; doesn’t have great anchor to rely on as he gets thrown off balance rather easily but he can certainly improve
• Kickslide is average for NFL standards; his get-off is much more impressive meaning he accelerates better moving forwards rather than backwards
